I find this wine to have a slightly aggressive nose/palate when young, but as a 16 year old, it was lovely. Blackcurrant and cassis, medium + bodied. A lovely Barossa cabernet.

My brother brought this wine with him from Australia several years ago. Since I only had the one bottle, I was holding off consuming it until the right occasion. Tonight was that opportunity to do so ... and it was worth the wait. Enjoyed the full-bodied Cab Sauv -- made in classic Greenock Creek style -- even though it was apparently past it's peak according to some reports elsewhere.
Decanted it for about an hour after pouring it carefully through a strainer to avoid the residue. It was an opaque black crimson colour with brick red hue. The nose was a ripe Cabernet aroma followed by cassis, chocolate, spice and violets. Drinking it with steak, the wine paired beautifully with layers of generous ripe fruit flavours. Blackcurrant, spice, liquorice and dark chocolate followed by a back palate of spice and white pepper. Fine, dryish but balanced tannins. It was a fine wine indeed.
There is a long aftertaste of spice, plum, cassis and white pepper -- in fact, an hour after our meal, I'm still enjoying the last sip I took. Sadly, the only bottle I had is now a pleasant memory with family and friends.

Wines of Greenock Creek: Another great effort from Greenock. Blueberries, pepper, cherry and thick texture. Medium finish and remained solid over the course of an hour. Drink over the next five years.

Initially a muted raisiny nose, and a fresh taste. This tastes like sweet blueberry pie. Not a lot of complexity, and a bit extracted. After 2 hours in the glass hoping for improvement, this simply faded away. 90 for the first few sips, 87 overall.
