A very nice aged Bandol with excellent structure and aromatic complexity and intensity. A nice balance without excessive alcohol and no noticeable oak. Many New World winemakers could learn from this...

Colour: Medium garnet but able to see through, much like a Barolo. First notes one hour after decanting. Nose: Earth, Game, Peppery meat, herbs de provence, ripe blackberries and dark cherry. Similar flavors on the palate, with nice acidity, smooth, well-integrated tannins and a ~20 second finish. There were a lot of herbs on the palate, notably thyme and pepper. Great stuff. Had this with lamb and venison wellington done with mushrooms and raspberry jus. A perfect match for the gaminess of the venison and the raspberry jus. The earthiness of the mushrooms also paired up great. Lamb brought out the acidity of the wine, venison was the better match. Interestingly, after 3 hours of decanting, notes of cinnamon and raspberries/cherries came out, reminiscent of an Amarone. A great wine at the price.

Kept way o long and ended up pouring it down the drain. Hint of olive smell and after taste
