Bought 5b for 19/b from Wine Library almost 11 years ago; this is #3. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Inky dark purple; subtle grapey cab franc nose; subdued black fruit (esp blackberry), some tartness, very good mouthfeel; some persistence. Delicious, probably the best Berg overall that I've ever tasted and indicative of what's possible in this traditionally modest appellation. Glad I have 2 more. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement and then condo basement locker since purchase. My evaluation: For my non-points, 4-level rating scheme, see earlier posts. This is outstanding- when considering quality, age, and price.

just a bit too mature as the fruit had peaked, having said that not a bad wine, blackberry, leather, clean taste, dark purple color, bouquet was floral but not intense

Big tannin and berry nose out of bottle; after tannins fade, left with a delicate, old world, slightly sweet wine; not particularly complex, but an undeniable southern France glint. 50/4/13/14/8

incredibly deep garnet color. had a problem defining the nose. young wine. a little rough and tannic. but shows potential. subtle berry notes. drinkable now. look forward to aging a bit and trying again in a year or so.
