  • Very exotic, not as heavy as some wines form Alsace, low acidity, but extremely fresh for a 32 year old wine. No hint of oxidation or decline. Who says you need acidity to keep a wine fresh and age??

  • en magnum - what would normally have been a beautiful wine was… bouchonné!!! Initially there was a whiff of white grapes and lychee. Then the nose faded quickly. There was some sweetness on the palate, but it was mostly bitter, and had no length. Another diner and I quickly agreed that the wine was gone. It wasn't as undrinkable as it could have been, but it gave me no pleasure to drink the wine.

  • Excellent wine. Remarkably alive with rich gewurz fruit. Low on acidity as you would expect from an old wine.

  • When I failed out of college... the first time, I got a job in a French restaurant in Highlands. This wine we served all of the time and I remember my waiter buddies and I would order this by the case for the wholesale restaurant price. We probably chugged it more than enjoyed it at the time, but I remember them so well, how crisp and fresh they were, and how they were not "sweet" like some of the other wines we would drink at the time. I saw an old picture today with this wine in it so I had to post this tasting note/memory.
