  • The fruit here is heading back into the darker realm after the 1997, showing some old leather, oak and very nice old strawberries. The palate carries a combination of rhubarb and old, musty strawberries, some light floral notes but with some sharp acidity peaking up in the finish. Great texture on the palate with amazing length in the finish. A delicious and interesting wine that is showing great character at this stage, if only it could have pulled off the balance and elegance of the 97.... this one is a little heavier and darker.
