At absolute peak, a delicious bottle of wine and the first drained at a dinner party featuring roast rack of pork. Layered and evocative, with a "differentness" that I can only attribute to the grape variety that is not well known in USA.

Basically drank a bottle a year since 2010. Fun experiment. Dark blackberry, soil, coffee on the nose. Palate leads with mocha, blackberry, dark cherry, Earl Gray tea. Finish is long and pronounced tannin driven. Best with food but fun experiment over 6 bottles.

Somewhat interesting, earthy, spicy smokey nose (the spice and smoke appear to be from wood). Candied fruit flavors in the somewhat rounded mouth which leans a bit too much toward medium bodied for such a ripe wine. Some unresolved tannins in the finish, which comes across a bit disjointed, though there is a touch of bittersweet chocolate on the finish which is nice. I'm reading some other reviews right now and not sure where all the impressions of complexity are coming from. Seems like a decent wine, but not particularly complex and maybe also a bit too candied for my tastes. Nose is the best part of this wine.

No score and no lengthy blurb....An' is a masterful wine and always a delight. I've left this one too long...it's drinkable, but only just...too many burnt fruit in that bottle for me. `A shame....but I've plenty of other years of this gorgeous bruiser to enjoy in the future. Would never stop me buying again...just not the '05. Shame... I'll shout if anything miraculous happens, but I believe this on is a goner. Cheers....

A year and a half since the last bottle. Dark brambly coca, a little tar, black cherry. IMO drinking very well with the tannins while noticible are starting to soften. One left out of 6.
