Surprisingly good for such an inexpensive wine. Needs to open for a while to get rid of the alcohol and some harshness. Actually stood up to a spicy Thai dish (Laab Gai).

It was very nice to find a 6 year old Chilean Cabernet that was fairly well stored. I have always wondered what would happen to those typical Chilean tree bark type flavors, and this was my chance. The color is almost black. The nose is typical Chilean Cabernet with smokey and earthy blackberry. Time in the bottle, and some air in the glass have made this one of the most integrated Cabernet's from Chile I have ever tasted. The fruit is still young, vibrant and quick hitting red currant and blackberry. Some very nice enhancing secondary flavors like cola, tar and licorice. Very balanced and crisp acidity for such a value priced wine. Serious finish of fruit, acid and minerals lasts for close to a minute.

A couple of years ago, we tried our first bottle of this offering and it knocked our socks off. It featured nice color, decent fruit and finish, and what really distinguished it was it's outstanding structure....very full bodied with exceptional tannic backbone for this price point ($6.99). Unfortunately, subsequent bottles have fallen way short of this first.
Comes now, our last of the 2007 vintage. Sadly, this bottle was again a disappointment. It offered mediocre fruit, non-existent structure, and a short finish. Very nice deep purple color, though!
