    A boire!

  • I seem to have been luckier with my bottle than some of the posters here. My photo shows an impeccable cork and the contents showed no signs of decline. Colour was very dark as befits Cahors and the nose was well developed with notes of vanilla sprinkled dark fruit. The palate was medium/full bodied with plenty of mature red and dark fruit, velvety texture, sophisticated wood patina, decent acidity and resolved tannins but earthy and tarry flavours were not much in evidence and length was only moderate. My main reservation concerns the marked traces of new oak ageing even after 15 years perhaps because the élevage did not take sufficient account of a less than stellar vintage. Good though.

  • Wine & Barbecue (@Private location): *** brief, no formal notes ***

Not flawed, simply gone. No excitement, not much complexity, no potential for further ageing.

  • Nice and round cahors.
    Deep purple.
Nose faint but pleasant cassis on wood.
Hint of tannins, but not hard.
    Cassis is the main flavour.
    Aftertaste medium.
Sounds not very convincing reading back, but i like it.
With duck stew in the winter.
