The mature fruit tasted of sour red berries and maybe some iron, leather --- almost an advanced syrah-like profile. Just a hint of sweet dark cherries could be teased out with some effort. Drank together with '03 Muga Selection Especial, that showed a similar profile of sour red fruit, meat, toasted bread (Muga had more depth, sweetness, and viscosity). Tasted somewhat flat and uninspiring. Don't see much upside here. Then again... -- after 5 days in the fridge, the fruit is getting sweeter and fuller, and shows little sign of fading. Go figure.
Having this from a 3L bottle was excellent both at the vineyard and this second try around at home. I opened this (with much effort since the cork crumbled) for a birthday party & served about 20 people pours. Great taste, medium body, level fruit & tannin balance, minimum to medium acidity. Overall this is a good wine in a large format vessel.
