This wine is indeed in a very nice drinking window right now for fans of "bigger" California cabs that have had an opportunity to mellow. But I am not sure that this particular vintage rises to the level of an elite wine. The color is medium purple/red at this point, fairly age appropriate. Nose was surprisingly restrained, perhaps because we decanted for ~2 hours. Still some very pleasant and typical notes of dark berries, cassis, maybe a little red licorice to round it out. Tannins well behaved at this point, though still present. Since I bought this many years ago, price has gone up substantially (very common, of course), so not sure I'd buy this at today's prices but still nicely made, ageable bottle that was a crowd-pleaser among some very experienced drinkers.

Haven’t poured in years, had friends for dinner who generally prefer Napa, but will allow me to pour them old world as well. They needed a comfort eve, so poured this and an 07 Mondavi Reserve. The Carter was the better liked, rich feeling on palate, balance between tannins and fruit, lengthy finish. This is a big Napa cab, lots of fruit with great structure. I think its beginning to end its time, see no point to wait.

Recent comments are accurate. Nice mellow red fruit. Not much in the way of depth or structure. Much more hoped for
