I agree with the earlier reviews. It’s a big wine, almost too big. Nothing subtle about it despite being almost 17 years old. It was my only bottle. If you have some, I would sit on it in the hope that it settles down and integrates better in later years.

This ripe To Kalon Cabernet is more bruising than elegant, and it currently seems to be tearing at the seams under its own weight. Garnet in color; full in body; aromas of prune, cocoa powder, and graphite. Flavors of boysenberry, mocha, bay leaf, and peppercorn, with a pleasant finish that gets more raisiny after a few hours. 14.7% alcohol. Made by Jeff Fontanella, prior to Mike Smith's arrival in 2009. Followed over three hours, with little change, so drink now.

Disappointing. Started out alarmingly tart and improved modestly over 5-6 hour decant as it added sweetness and weight. 1 bottle left and not excited to drink it.

Big BTK fans, but this Carter one just didn't stand out compared to others. More muted than expected. All the elements are there, but they don't seem to be playing nicely together at this time. This is our 2nd different Carter wine that we had similar results on, maybe we just don't care for his style???

From a half bottle. Drank as part of an anniversary celebration with burgers. Our first experience with Carter which I was excited to try as we are visiting next month. I liked the wine - it was more muted fruit flavors and just hints of leather and other pieces underneath. I think very classic of the 2007 vintage which to be fair is not my favorite. Enjoy some of the greater complexity in '08. Still - a nice wine and enjoyed.
