  • Last bottle from a half case purchased back in 2010. Brought this to consume with dinner at Seared 1200 Chophouse in St. Pete Beach (free corkage!). Consistent with my prior note from 18 months ago - maybe even a bit better now. Even though it did not get the benefit of a decanting or a lot of airtime, this really sang from start to finish. The lovely Tuscan nose of berries, sweet spice, earth and flowers is as alluring as ever. Full-bodied, but elegant in weight, with a lively acidity. The luscious plum and blackberry fruit is beginning to fade just a bit, but this remains delicious and well-balanced. Shows wonderful depth and fine length. Paired beautifully with their Porterhouse Steak for 2.

  • Consistent with my previous note from back in April, but a bit better this time. Has a very beautiful nose of sweet fruit, Indian spices, sous-bois and roasted meat. Full-bodied and very refined. Lots of cherry and blackberry character. The finish is bone dry and contains a lingering note of black licorice at the very end. Just a little too much oak, but the tannins are beautifully polished. Outstanding, though still not as good as the 2006. Down to my last bottle.

  • Very dark in the glass, this has an attractive nose of cherries, vanilla and spice with just a hint of meat. Fruit forward, juicy and fairly complex, showing plenty of Tuscan terroir. Full-bodied, but not heavy or over-extracted. Finishes bone dry and a bit oaky, but there's just enough fruit and a nice minerality to satisfy. Very, very good, but not nearly the equal of the 2006 which is noticeably richer, longer and more complex.
