  • From Dad’s cellar. I had low expectations, but the nose was awesome right away. Dark fruit, slightly brooding, with beef jersey and soy sauce hints. The palate was still youthful too, with similar dark fruit underpinned by the savory beef and soy notes. Long finish. This isn’t Rocks style funky Syrah , but more like a good Northern Rhône rendition. Drink now.

  • Color shows a bit of bricking. nose is big bloody, meaty, blackberry, hint of pepper. Palate carries some fruit, but seems to be a bit tired. Tannins barely apparent and alcohol is showing a bit on finish. Drink these now if you have them, as I think it's in the back side and not really built for long haul. Better memory of this wine from earlier bottles.

  • We opened this tonight, bearing all the tasting notes in mind. At the start, this wine was a nice after dinner drink: the nose and the texture were a bit amaretto-like with, as other notes have noticed, lots of stewed fruits. This did seem to improve with time: the consistency of the wine remains liqueur-like, but the nose is starting to exhibit some pleasant menthol notes. However, this reminds me more of a zin than syrah. I'm not getting any meaty or gamey notes.

I think the acidity on this wine is nice now, and the tannins have softened enough that I would call this wine mature. Maybe I would even say this wine is ever-so-slightly past its prime. In any cas, I certainly don't think this wine is going to improve much more, so I'm glad we drank our botttle here.

Day 2: There were some moments when we thought this was going to come back to life, but I think it's safe to say it's dead now.

  • This was a very interesting wine. The first night the nose was like the first tasting note. Overly alcoholic with some stewed fruit. I let it sit in a decanter and wasn't able to get to it the next day. 3 days later, I have pulled the plug on the decanter and poured a glass. This has transformed into a very beautiful Syrah. On the nose their is some funkiness to it but blackberries, cocoa, violets on the rim, with sweet integrated tannin and the oak has evolved into vanilla, and mocha. Long sweet tannin finsih with black fruit lasting for a good minute. The alcohol is still their, but is not very noticeable because of all of the flavors. Black pepper and underbrush are also present in nuance form as well as tire rubber. Excellent

  • Opaque purple color. Bright.
Nose is alcoholic, with prune, eucalyptus, anise, blackberry, blueberry, and cedar.
Full-bodied with lively acidity, medium tannins. Flavors are blueberry, blackberry, black currant, cedar, plu, fig jam. Alcoholic bite on a long finish.
I want to like this wine, but nose and finish are too alcoholic. Some reductive notes.
