  • 34 % Cinsault, 25 % Mourverdre, 18 % Syrah, 11 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 7 % Viognier, 5 % Grenache

Decanted for one hour. Color: Dark ruby. Aroma: a whiff of alcohol, raspberries, almonds, pears and campfire smoke. Tasting notes: sour apples, oak/earth, and hints of vanilla. The lower score is primarily due to its lack of structure, and a sense that the wine is over oaked!

  • I had this off the list of Habitat ($690 pesos).

This wine comes across as Old World. A lot of of these Rhone ranger wines from the Guadalpue Valley do. There is a nice minerality and dried red fruits sprinkled with a dose of desert bush. In the mouth it is medium bodied and showing nice acidity. It is a very nice wine, but I would have liked to experience more densitity and flavor. It seems that the winemaker is finally able to tame the salinity without ruining the wine with excessive tartaric acidity, like in previous vintages.
