Developed a pleasant mushroom-and-damp-earth aspect on night two, but otherwise this is a static wine, not evolved from a youthful state: it's mostly about fruit. Plenty of acid here, but also a touch of heat despite the 12.5% alcohol. No complaints overall, though: this is the basic, value-priced wine and as an 11 year old it performs nicely for it.

My first American Pinot Noir, I have been saving it for a few years just to see how it pulls up after some bottle age: Chocolate, bark (wood not woof), cherries, mould and earth are all on the nose. Savoury cherries dominate the palate with damsons and fruit jammy overtones coming through and with some grippy tannins that imply oak rather than stalk. Long finish. It really is very nice. Mrs C say it reminds her of Autumn (fall for our American friends) and I know exactly what she means.

Paired well with chicken with madeira sauce. Not a great wine on it's own -- a little hard and astringent -- but quite good with food. Don't serve too cold -- actually improves as it warms.

Missed it's peak. Such a shame because the other bottle I drank in late 2007 was very good.

Good complexity...Nose of spice, fruit, mushrooms. Subtle fruit, mold (in a good way like roguefort), seawater, long finish. nice.
