  • Very smooth and soft. Fruit is still present and tannins are soft and melted. Black cherry, blackberry, cassis, cedar wood. This bottle has reached its prime and is lacking complexity already. Time to drink it up

  • In a nice place, good fruit up front, with a nice back end showcasing leather, tobacco, and some mocha. 13.5% ABV.

  • Lunch wine at Bymark. Drank together with 1993 Ravenswood Pickberry. This one needed some time to show itself. Much darker colour and very shy on the nose to begin with . In time it showed black cherry and blackberry fruit and just a touch of herbal notes and wood. Palate needed an hour roto pull together but always remain structured and focused. Tannins were very fine but always present, but in balance with the fruit intensity. So classic Howell Mountain. Not sure if the fruit will outlast the tannins so I would drink up. Better wine that the Pickberry but the Pickberry gave me more pleasure.

  • A bit of sweetness, very concentrated, luscious, hint of liquorice, intriguing and elegant.

  • This was a 6L bottle that I had stored in my cellar since release.
The color was dark red, the nose had lovely tones of deep cherry and cassis.
The tannins were soft, acidity and fruit excellent.
The wine showed beautiful balance with a long, elegant finish.
I subsequently tasted 5 750’s over the next month from my cellar and the bottles were all surprisingly consistent.
A lovely wine that still should last another 5-10 years. It may not get better,
but no need as it is drinking beautifully.
