Wow, at this price point, I was not expecting it to hold up so well after this many years. Really very little sign of aging. There have been plenty wines from my cellar for which this is not true. Still showing full-bodied black fruit and fig, accented with lively floral notes. Maybe a small kick of pepper. It is smooth and easy drinking from the first pour.

Clear ruby of medium plus intensity. Developing some garnet hues on the rim. Showing some legs. The nose is clean, of medium intensity, showing a nice blend of black and red fruit, mostly red. The nose is developing and starting to show some secondary characteristics. The palate is dry, with medium plus acidity, tannins and flavor intensity. The alcohol is 15% but seems lowe and is nicely integrated. The body is medium to medium plus as is the finish. Showing beautiful flavors of raspberry and black cherry liqueur, with liquorice and leather on the finish. This is a nicely balanced, very well made wine. Drink now through 2014 and probably beyond. A good Chateaux-neuf-de-Pape imitation in the $27.00 range.

Inky dark purple, verging on black. A little jammy and hot at first. Let it breathe for an hour+ and the heat fades; the jamminess evolves into a pleasant, complex combination of fruit, spice, and minerality with a silky smooth texture. Some dust, a small hint of funk, and blueberry fruit on the nose. On the palate, more blueberries, as well as cinnamon, earth, and metal. Altogether, complexity and depth, robust flavors and nice acidity. Definite room to grow over the next couple years but excellent now. 91+.

While without detailed tasting notes, I will say this is holding up exceedingly well at 16 years old.

Al vanaf de eerste aroma's uit de fles een van mijn favorieten. Vol, rond, kruidig, intens. Rijpe braam, wat zoethout, zwarte bes.
Lekker en goede P/Q
