Medium yellow color initially that moves toward amber with an hour of air. Aromas of lemon, butterscotch, and white truffle. Hazelnuts and white truffle on the palate with a lingering hint of lemon on a long finish. Another great showing for this surprise of a wine. Holding, but time to drink. Delicious.

Bright lemon-yellow color. Aromas of lemon cream and white truffles. On the palate, this has great secondary character, showing a white truffle and hazelnut character riding on top of butterscotch and lemon curd. This is absolutely dumbfounding. 1987 pinot noir from Oregon was not a good vintage, in my experience. To see this not just hanging in there, but actually singing at age 22, was a revelation. Far better than the '89 and '90 Reserves that I've had from the same acquisition, both of which are showing more oxidation and fatigue. Would be a great ringer in an aged white Burgundy flight.

Heitz Martha's vertical 74-77 with an absolutely CURSED line up of chardonnay. (Major Domo): Straight from the domaine and reconditioned. Unfortunately the bottle was SHOT. It was all oak and alcohol on the palate, zero fruit. Never really opened up.
