Paso Robles Wine Trip; 9/12/2017-9/14/2017: Interesting to taste an older wine after such good new releases and lightly-aged wines. I was impressed by how well this had held up. Nose shows aged characteristics of cigar smoke, leather chair, chewing tobacco, some dried currants underneath but quite subtle. Tannins are still there but they’re quite silky, the acidity frames it nicely. Tart currant still going, some plum skin, but the flavors of sage, chewing tobacco, menthol and wet earth run the show. Smooth and subtle but not yet gone.
