A very dark colour; the palate has thick, savoury, dark plum fruit, and is quite intense and long. It is good to drink now (with a 2 hour decant), but has a long life ahead and should still improve. I have one left and should try to keep it for a few years, perhaps even 5.

A dark, inky black colour; quite deeply flavoured, with intense, rich plum fruit; this now seems to have opened up and is excellent for current drinking, but should also keep well. Decanted for 2½ hours.

A dark colour; quite a dense, thick-textured wine, slightly burly and with noticeable acidity. There is plenty of extract and flavour, but it is not exactly elegant. Very good, but not outstanding.

Quite a dark colour; full and quite dense, with plum/damson fruit and quite a thick texture. Now ready and attractive to drink, but will undoubtedly keep well and develop further.

Quite a deep, mid-red colour; a fairly dense palate, with quite concentrated plummy fruit. A step up from Ch Langoa Barton 2008, drunk yesterday, at least for current drinking. Approaching maturity, but with the structure to keep well.

(Château Trotte Vieille) Very dark red violet color; deep berry, black fruit, espresso nose; tasty, berry, blackberry palate with balance; medium-plus finish (50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Franc, 5% Cabernet Sauvignon)
