Dark red color. PNP, drank a couple glasses over 3 hours. Dark mountain fruit on the nose, tar, wild berries, pencil lead, cocoa powder. The palate is dark, cedar box, dried earthiness, pencil and gravel, purple fruit, nice tannins that have a bit of hold, but not grippy, round with a spiced woodsy finish. 93+pts.

shared with pat at selkirk manor. this bottle got overlooked for a while as i had mistakenly entered it as a malbec. decided to PnP due to fear that i may have kept it too long. selected this bottle to celebrate National Cabernet Day. the wine proved to be sound. notes similar to when tasted three years ago. remarkable how the wine has changed so little over time. still showig dark color with no signs of browning or fading at the rim. rich nose with earth and chocolate. black fruit and more earth on the palate. nice balance of fruit, oak and acidity. probably fully mature at this point. i have yet to be disappointed by a catena wine.

shared with pat at selkirk manor to celebrate the end of the work week. looked at the label and realized that i had bought cab instead of malbec which was my intention. despite this, the wine offered a pleasant experience. dark color. rich nose with earth and chocolate. black fruit and more earth on the palate. nice balance of fruit, oak and acidity. i think this wine will improve with another year in bottle. have yet to be disappointed by a catena wine.

(Catena Cabernet Sauvignon) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-really bombastic; I like this; very deep; very rich; black cherries coming through; a little bit of leather; a smoky chalk as well; a little oak and vanilla; PALATE-very well made; for $14 bones, dramatically better than many $20-$40 Cabs out there; well made; good backbone; I like the dark chocolate; JM-90; GV-89

3 uur vooraf gedecanteerd .Kleur: robijnrood, geur: zwarte bessen, tabak, peper. Smaak: rood fruit, cassis, zwarte bessen, peper. Afdronk: lang. Totaalindruk, krachtig, maar mooie balans. Wordt wellicht nog iets beter.
