  • Cedary and spicy nose. Soft tannins and sweet cherry fruit. Quite mature but vibrant and alluring. Drink up.

  • I bought this very recently as a single bottle encouraged by the previous reviews despite the age. I have no idea how this evolved over time. Decanted for an hour. For the wine being over 20 years the cork was in good shape and there was less sediment than i expected. It looks like an aged wine, brown tones dominating. The nose is all about red fruit. On the palate there is sweet cherry and leather. Tannins have softened and there is medium acidity. Complexity in the finish. Overall this is still drinking very well, it also appears this bottle was stored appropriately.

  • This is an excellent wine with very little sediment at nearly age 20. The bouquet is of forest floor, spices and grilled bread. The body is medium to full. It is lush, rich and the tannins are soft. It is a lower acid wine on the rich side. This wine is at full maturity but not in danger of being too far. With a dish of Sicilian sausages and chicken in a brightly fruity tomato sauce will with onions and peppers, the wine was delicious.

  • This wine was bought at release and had been in my cool cellar the whole time. Eighteen years from the vintage, the wine left a goodly sediment but still dark. The bouquet was like a Cabernet of tobacco and deep black fruit. The taste was consistent, intense, large scaled and very complex and yet vibrant. The wine is still completely young, fruity and fresh. It had not gotten to the mature phase but drinking beautifully now, not necessarily like a mature wine but somewhere on the way. Wonderful wine it is now. Many thought the best of the evening (the 97 Caparzo Brunello was also tasted but all preferred the Pareto).

  • Ripe blue fruit. A touch oxidized. Balanced.
