Deep, dark red. Plums, blackberries, and overwhelming alcohol on the nose, almost like smelling vodka. Silken texture, a bit oddly watery in texture (it doesn't seem to match the flavors), but with nice red and black berries with an astringent strawberry finish. Much better than the last bottle I had.

Rich, dark purple. Smells like blackberry jam. Blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, vanilla, coffee, espresso on the finish, some Indian spices. Strong tannins, structure somewhat lacking. There is also some Welch's grape juice in there. Very rustic, and completely shamed by its 2003 ancestor.

Dan Kravitz and Hand Picked Selections (Hinton's Wine Store, Atlanta, GA): 60% Monastrell, 25% Garnacha, 15% Syrah.
Nose of roasted meat, dark fruit. Surprisingly light bodied and smooth on the palate, showing plum skin. Lots of ripe tannins on the finish. No oak .~$11. 87+
