(MORMORAIA Vernaccia) Mormoraia Dear Friends, Matt Kramer knows Italy. He also knows more about the lesser appellations than many give him credit for. He's waxed poetic on Momoraia's Vernaccia and has it singled out as the finest example of San Gimignano produced - the 2007 should put all doubts to rest (if there were any). 2007 in this area combines the best of a vintage like 2002 in the Loire with 1986 in Chablis - in other words, you will be hard pressed to find a better growing season for white wine. Yellow gold/green and full of explosive aromatic character, the 2007 Mormoraia has a viscous texture, cleansing acidity and nervous, mineral drenched extract all buried in a medium bodied frame. This bargain gem is a workhorse wine that should be a glass pour favorite at any restaurant with high aspirations. Much better than the acclaimed 2006 (in my opinion), the vintage really shines here and elevates a typically over-rated appellation into the limelight. While this wine isn't going to make you forget your collection of Les Clos, do I really need to say more? An everyday wine of high caliber that can be relied upon to brighten your spirits and add to your Sunday picnic or dinner with ease - would also be a top holiday starter wine. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price - about the same as in Europe: 2007 Mormoraia Vernaccia di San Gimignano (DOC) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Italy6090
