  This is still kind of a hot mess. Alcohol and oak dominate the fruit, which is still showing but this just lacks the balance that I expect from rincon. Will give remaining bottles time but don’t have high hopes here.
  Next time will pair with fatty red meat like braised short ribs and not delicate fare

  PnP. Cork broke in half but extracted remainder without crumbling. Medium red. Savory nose of a variety of spices and some red fruits. Lovely intensity on the palate with sweet fruit still remaining. Quite impressive at age 12.

  Subsequent notes on this wine from close to four years ago. Dark ruby red in color with no signs of aging. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & blueberries with overtones of floral notes of violets & spice notes of nutmeg & cloves, earthy, herbs, minerals, dark cocoa & a hint of vanilla in background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, rich, ripe fruit flavors of sweet dark cherries, blackberries & plums with spices, herbs, earthy, cocoa, some cherry cola, minerals & a hint of vanilla. Lingering smooth finish. Drinks quite well at present & at about 11 years old, I doubt any further development would occur although it may hold onto its current plateau of development for several more years longer if cellared properly.
