Opened for a few hours- not decanted. A full and dense garnet gaining clarity at its edges. Barnyard-y notes on the bouquet with red fruit and maybe even a little apple and curry spice. Much darker profile on the palate with anise and black cherry, along with a gamey and savory undercurrent of flavor. Silky in feel, with a lush structure that finishes with dusty tannins and sweet red and dark berry fruit notes- medium in length. Ripe and rustic.

I like this Tempranillo blend from the Duero Valley in Castilla y Leon. Soft purple color, wonderful tartness on the palate and finish. Prefer a bit more structure and texture, but at $12 a bottle, no complaints.

(Abadia Retuerta Vino de la Tierra de Castilla y León Rívola) Earthy, tart black fruit, charcoal nose; tart red fruit, herbaceous palate; medium finish (Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon)
(Abadia Retuerta Rívola Vino de la Tierra, Castilla y León) Abadia Retuerta, a large wine estate founded in 1996, is in the village of Sardón del Duero, which lies just outside the Ribera del Duero region in the province of Castilla y León. Rívola is made mostly from Tempranillo, blended with Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2007 is a medium-ruby color with pink-purple edges. Notes of violets, granite, and tart cherries emerge on the nose, followed by cranberries, a hint of dill, and charred cedar plank. Potpourri, dried fruits, and smoke linger on the palate. Try it with smoked meats or duck with pomegranate sauce. Hot Picks

Bright ruby color. Nondescript nose. Tastes of black cherry and currant. Earthy mid palate and finish with some good acidity.

This bottle was very different from the previous one I had. Seemed thinner with less fruit. Could be bottle variation?
