First Wednesday Wine Club (Napoli in Bocca, Haberfield): Served blind. concentrated plum, a little oak, sweet spice, plum lozenges, touch of toast. Drying tannins, juicy, slight alcohol warmth, similar fruit profile - that plum and plum lozenge persists with the tannins. Nice. I knew this was mine.

Double decanted. On the nose, initially, cherry, berry and plum...slightly spirituous...backed up by cream and vanilla and very slight leathery spice. Still young from an aroma perspective. On the palate more of the same with the primary fruit very much to the fore then a triumvirate of alcohol heat, moderately juicy acidity and surprisingly light (for a nebbiolo) and silky tannins steps into the breach and carries the suitably diminished fruit, with a dusting of spice, on the medium plus length finish. I opened this to go with a reasonably simple chicken stew and was a little worried that it was going to be too much...my concern was misplaced, it went along very nicely.

Absolutely scrumptious wine. Gorgeous floral perfumed bouquet that is in itself delish. The wine is balanced, composed, complex and structured to a tee. Long and brooding finish with refined silky tannins that just keep on giving.

Opened, double decanted and left for an hour. Quite harsh and acidic with strong tannin over plum and spice. Rambunctious and a little disjointed. The others can be left for a few years befire re-approaching methinks.

Great elegant floral aroma combined with astringent tannins and cabernet-like structure made for a difficult wine that will require 10 years cellaring to be truly enjoyable.
