Yellow-gold. Unusual for Santorini aromas of ripe peaches, pears, candied oranges and almond paste. Full-bodied, almost oily, with huge alcohol (15%), ripe fruit and low acidity that is insufficient to provide balance. Very long finish. A very unusual wine that is closer to a white St. Joseph (with less intense fruit) than to a Santorini. Where is the signature minerality and crispiness of this appelation? This is a late-harvest wine that spends 6 months in oak casks. A-typical as it is, you may like it or not, but it is beyond doubt that Hatzidakis is Santorini's most adventurous winemaker.
