  • Clean medium golden. Medium intensity nose, with dominant minerality and hints of citrus, orange zest and some green apple. Full bodied (due to high alcohol of 15%) with medium+ acidity, medium lasting and same aromas of stone and some smoke. Very good but i was expecting a bit more, especially in terms of acidity and finish.

  • Bright yellow-gold with some greenish hues. Orange peel, masticha and hints of minerals that reminded me of a Northern Rhone white. Full bodied, dense, with sweetness, rich fruit and balancing acidity. Very long finish. Not typical Santorini, but excellent.

  • Very light straw colour. In the nose aormas of medium to low intensity, actually almost imperceptible at first. Yet with a closer look (whiff) one can sense the concentration and with time the wine opens up a bit. In any case one does not expect from a Santorini Asyrtiko exuberant aromas, its the strength, finesse and minerality in the mouth that these wines are famous for. This wine exhibnited some white fruit, not at all typical of Santorini, and blossoms along with some sweet citrus zest and the typical santorini minerallity on the background. There was considerable complexity but the aromatic intensity was low as I said. In the mouth the first impression is the fullness and the alcohol. At 15% this is a very full bodied wine and the alcohol makes you feel as if drinking a spirit. Happily the alcoholic feel recedes after some airing and what is left is a wine of great structure good acidity and strength, capable of accompanying intense and savoury foods. Dishes with garlic or blue cheese, omeletes, sauerkareut, olives, salty dishes, soups even. The wine is powerfull but does not lack elegance. Aftertaste longish mineral and citric, hints of quinche with some vanilla, even some tannins and also a malty character. This wine can develop further with aging. A very interesting but difficult wine with typicity and character.
