Pyrenees Wineries' Visit (Pyrenees, Vic): {cork, 14.5%, A$150} The current release of this flagship label, this mid-crimson wine offers a kaleidoscope of sultry shiraz fruits and spice, pepper, smoke and liquorice. The palate is very fresh still, and the tannins, despite their microscopic fineness, remain the dominant note on the lengthy finish. Alliers oak is never obvious in itself, but contributes to the overall depth and structure. Just 200 cases made, and thus a privilege to taste even from a logistical perspective, let alone the quality of the wine itself.
