  • Still some bright yellow. Tried this wine about 6 years ago and was very disappointed. I can still recall an unpleasant acidity and lacking freshness. Today there are aromas of hay, honey and fruit. And the acidity is nicely balanced by a viscous mouthfeel.

  • Wonderful wine! It has excellent nose: sweet, apple and honeysuckle. It is supple and has long finish. Probably at its peak.

  • Enjoyable. The nose showed a typical whiff of lentils alongside sweet stone fruited notes, limes, a bit of nectar and beeswax, and just that hint of chalk. Attractive. The palate had a nice round feel to it, decently balanced for a GV, with just enough acidity to keep its creamy stone fruit and white apple flesh flavours in check. The finish was nice, round and open, with just a kiss of peach, a touch of lentil, and barely a hint of the spiciness one would expect from a Gruner. Altogether, very pleasant and drinking well now.

  • This was very disappointing given the pedigree of the producer and has put me off their GV for good! Rich, alcoholic, plastic flavors, oily, some CO2 and cloying. Very slow to open up and shows a faint hint of tropical notes but the acidity is flat and it tastes oaky(?).

  • From 75cl, perfect cork. Smells much like the 2,89 EUR/litre jug GV we use for cooking: a bit fruity, a bit soapy, not much more. But the entry is terrific. Big, muscular, buff, tons of minerality, heavy (perhaps liquefied stone would taste like this). A bit bland on the mid-palate before the acidity kicks in again. I don't specifically get the mango/papaya notes mentioned by others here, but the wild ripe tropical acidity is a fact. Outstanding now and for years to come. we thought it tasted best at about 9C. 90P+
