Northern Gevrey 1er (Zoom): Gorgeous nose of maturing black cherry with meaty spice. Deliciously rich with textural complexity of round fruit and fine, still grippy structure. At peak and should hold for 5-10 years more.

Gevrey-Chambertin (Northside) 1er Cru Tasting (Chicagoland): In 97/02/09/10 vertical. Very dark color. Very reductive start, SO2 never fully dissipated (despite being open 3 hours before serving), so I would suggest decanting. Once past all that reduction...there is so much here, coming across as both massive and texturally elegant (somehow) at the same time. I think this has further upside as more earthy nuance should/ will come through, but others thought it at its zenith right now. Only time will tell.

Let's Open Some Wines From 2002 (Palena - Washington, DC): Had the sweet red fruit profile that Serafin Pinot tends to have. The oak was there, but not distracting. Though the palate was velvety with spicy red fruit and floral notes I found it somewhat boring...maybe a bit closed down?

Nice earthiness and dark fruit in the glass. Took about an hour to open up. Drinking well now.
