  • Deep garnet colour consistent with 20+ years in the bottle. Nose is vibrant fruit bomb with dark plums, black currants, chocolate and vanilla. Palate is silky smooth and flavours flow on from the nose with addition of chewy tannins, liquorice and spice. Some leather on the long elegant finish. Finishing up last stock of these. Noting that some are cork and other Stelvin cap, might have been a transition year.

  • Dark plum colour in the glass, the nose is dominated by sour cherries, raspberries, white stone fruit, vanilla and spiced apples. Palate is rich smooth and balanced at the outset, but fragments somewhat mid palate and the finish is quite hot and split with alcohol which unfortunately spoils the overall experience.

  • Fabulous wine at the top end of its peak and has softened nicely into an elegant and well balanced wine showing plenty of cassis fruits with some strawberry, plum and chocolate ; tertiary notes including tabacco, coffee, menthol. Acidity and fresh Long tannic finish. A great vintage!

  • Still a deep dark red in colour. Restrained in bouquet but promising a mature and elegant wine. Tannins are still there but subtle enough. Elegant also in flavour, with good fruit and chocolate overtones. A grown up, self confident and subtle wine, still drinking beautifully, as it reaches the end of its window. A wonderful wine with a good crust too

  • Nose closed when bottle first opened, but after a couple of hours in a decanter it opened up beautifully: full, deep and dark in its initial impression. Interesting to see other comments about thin-ness, because I did note a thinning out on the mid-palate, a lack of fruit there compared to the initial hit. However, that is a small weakness in what was otherwise a superb bottle. Quite high acidity, I think, and very fine tannins: elegant, a grown-up wine.
