  • Its smells potent and is potent. 12 years and room to run. I feel like I am hitting it at an opportune time. Nose starts austere and mellows. Dark Red fruits, stale/flat cola, menthol + days of nilla past. the front is dark subdued cherry, some purple. Vanilla, plus a weird root veggie thing, and some earthiness. Its got depth. Nuance. It makes me take pause and think. It won't go more than a day and it doesn't have to. Its just great now, and holding a glass amazingly. I'd wager underestimated in 2008 and now its paying unbelievable dividends while demonstrating what Loring an do early on.

  • “Loring Red” is almost a given. The nose is full of cherry compte, cola, licorice, and smoke. This is not a big wine in the usual Loring sense, but it holds up well to the touch of heat in the seasoning of the seared tuna. The sweet fruit cut the heat and stands up to in the best of partnerships. A very balanced wine that pairs incredibly well with the meal. The mouthfeel is full without being “big” or overly broad. The palate tracks the nose with precision. Definite cola or perhaps Dr. Pepper on the finish. With this being a 10 year old Loring, I was expecting it to be on the down side. It definitely was not. While I don’t see any material improvement from holding the wine, I suspect it will hold, but why wait. 15.2% alc. And not a touch of heat in any way. With tuna nicoise. Recommended.

  • Dark cherry and plum on the nose. Similar flavors on the palate with spice and oak/cedar characteristics. There's a certain bitterness in the syrupy flavor near the end and the aftertaste is reminiscent of the aftertaste of apricot nectar. Got better after an hour of air. Not any better the next day though- maybe worse.

  • I would never have guessed this wine as a pinot. Aromas and flavors of rich, dark berries and spices. A very pleasing wine, it just didn't taste like a pinot noir.
