Drank the 2011, 2013 and 2014 next to each other. this one, the 2011, threw off a huge amount of sediment while the other two had almost none. This one was showing some age in its color and scent and taste, but overall has held up actually pretty nicely. It was principally raspberries.

Definitely not “Loring Red” but more of cranberry color. Distinct alcohol on the nose, followed by cranberry, plum jam, Asian 5 spice and teaberry. Vanilla on the finish. The sweet fruit on the attack relegates this wine to the “cocktail” category. A linear, hot wine. Heavy sediment coating the length of the bottle. 14.8% alc. With roasted salmon with olive tapenade. Recommended with Reservations.

Dark purple and definitely not “Loring Red” may have been the 2nd biggest surprise from this wine. With cola and black cherry on entry, vanilla overwhelms the fruit then riffs into something of an herbal finish. The sweet fruit on the attack relegates this wine to the “cocktail” category. The biggest surprise was how linear the wine is. To be from the Durell Vineyard, one would expect more from the fruit. There’s just little to love of this wine right now. A heavy shadow of sediment coats the resting side of this bottle. 14.8% alc. With grilled London broil (beef) Recommended with Reservations.

A dense and deep red settles into the glass. Spicy on the nose with Asian 5 spice, Dr. Pepper, cola and black cherry. Juicy and mouth-filling on the palate, the wine is sweet with black cherry, framed by the cola and Dr. Pepper, and then finishes with its distinct spiciness. Blueberry creeps n at some point. This is an easy drinking wine. Heavy strands of sediment. 14.8% alc. Both by itself and later with cambazola blue and “Madaline” (manchego-like) cheeses. Recommended.

Big cherry cola flavor up front. Dark ruby color. Enough acidity to keep it from being jammy, but not a whole lot else.
5/20/2019 Maroon color, on its way to brickish. Acidity seemed more pronounced now. Past its prime.
