Best bottle yet, by far. Decanted 60 minutes ahead of dinner. Surprisingly for a very hot year, and before the Barolesi had figured out how to change growing practices to deal with the systematically hotter weather that they face today, this wine strikes a balance between extraction and structure. It is highly aromatic, showing red and black fruits, lots of spices, and an underlying earthiness, with a long, savory finish. It has a nice balance of acid, tannin and residual sweetness. A great, mid-weight, entry-level Barolo and an outstanding value. Drink to 2027.

My first bottle since 2014. It was very good back then, and has improved. Decanted 90 minutes ahead of dinner, it (L1811) was still rather closed until the 2-2.5 hour mark. Despite the hot year, this 2007 hits the Albe style very well: a smooth, balanced, nuanced, mid-weight, entry-level Barolo and an outstanding value. Aromatic, red and black fruits, spice, earth, minerals, and very long. It really shows Barolo character, despite its reasonable price. Seven years ago I estimated peak drinking until 2022, but I now revise that to 2027. Wish I had bought a case!

Ripe vintage, drinking beautifully now. Hint of menthol. Excellent mid plate life and lingering tannin.

Open for business. Still a boat load of tannin, but there is also surprising elegance here. Would drink now through the next 5 years.
