Another ball tearing Standish wine from a crappy vintage. what does one say . Find a better 07 Barossa Shiraz ( ok it has a little viognier in it) . Maybe a RBP would be as good. Think his Standish Shiraz would be even better than the Relic. But a cracker. Rich decadent, young, super sweet and long in the mouth . But slowly approaching readiness. I know some preferred it over the 99 Helbig. it was excellent but like the Helbig, old Standish's are rare now and hard to get and under priced. Superb stuff.

Dried out cork that broke into half but no signs of seepage, but the first thing you notice is the incredibly obnoxious bottle weight. The wine itself is unabashedly new world, it was so Aussie that I could hear it calling out ‘g'day mate’ to us. Purple hue, a very ripe and inky wine with some sweet plummy fruit and fig. The exuerbance has mellowed down, however and it is not a caricature of a wine, well-integrated fruits and not overworked at all. Not my go-to wine but others enjoyed this very much.

Dark ruby, well integrated, smooth, powerful, sweet. Blueberry jam, balsamic, sweet baking spices. Very expressive. For under $50, it's a bargain.
