  Decanted for one hour. Medium red in color. Cherry, mushroom, and spice aromas. Loads of red fruits and some vanilla on the palate. Decent length finish with refreshing acidity.

  Initial funkiness blew off after 3 hours of decanting. Not much aroma coming off this wine. Earthiness, tart cherry pits, and vanilla on the palate. Lots of crisp acidity. This seemed to be more expressive a couple years ago.
  
  After 4 hours in the decanter, this wine has changed dramatically. It's now much softer with a lot of the tartness replaced by creamy cherry vanilla flavors. This is more how I remembered this wine. I've upped my score as a consequence.

  This is so silky smooth, but the flavors are muted. This is my last bottle. I seem to remember liking this more previously, but also recall that the flavors were dulled then, too. Their Volnay Champans is so much more tasty.
