  • Took about 30 minutes to open up, great garnet color, nice clarity. Soft tannins with just a bit of acidity left, great dark fruit finish. Probably about 3-5 years left until its gone

  • Nice red fruit (cherry), slight spice, nice acidity. Lingering finish.
Pretty open. Like other 97s, acid strong on the finish.
Slight floral nose. Beautiful nose of fruit, slight floral.

  • Visual: serious bricking at the edges. Good, transparent violet color on the center.

Nose: nice perfume of cherry fruits and wood wafted from the glass on the table. Pine needles and wet earth come upon sniffing the wine.

Palate: drying leather, wood and dark acidic plum fruits hidden beneath.

A nice bottle in a good place. A solid B.

  • Visual: Dark Ruby/Burgundy but good transparency

Nose: Leather and fresh forest floor withcherry sugar at the end.

Palate: bing cherry, leather and a hint of tar and cigar box. Very bright (too bright?) acidity. Tannins come on big atthe end, cutting the finish.

Overall: Good, but might be better in 5 years. B/B+

  • What a pleasant surprise! I was looking for a wine to match smoked spiral ham and this certainly did that. The colour is still quite intense with only a hint of brick around the edge. The dark fruit and leather leap out of the glass and then a mineral and barnyard (manure) round out the nose. The longer the wine sat in the glass the more complex the nose became with notes of lavender and lilac The palate is fully resolved , intense red cherry fruit, what tannins remain are fully integrated, very good balanced and decent middle palate and length. It performed beyond its pedigree. This bottle had perfect cork and maybe that helped.
