  • Light to medium red, lighter edge. Developed nose with strawberries and cherries, quite a bit of spice, some undergrowth, some oak, and a bit of volatile acidity. Medium bodied, cherries and strawberries, quite spicy, rather prominent acidity, some tannins with a bit of bite. There's definitely signs of quality here (good fruit concentration and spice notes), but it has unfortunately not developed in a very harmonious way: too much volatile acidity on the nose rather than traditional mature Burgundy notes, and a bit too prominent acidity on the palate. I'd describe this bottle, as well as the previous one in early 2012, as over the hill, but I don't know how this was cellared until 2011. 87 p?

  • Munskänkarna, Brussels (Brussels): Very complex flavors. Chocolate and nice maturity aromas, slightly reminiscent of truly great Riojas. Perfectly balanced which renders it ready to drink, although I would expect it to improve another 5-8 years.
