  • This was very fun to try. I did not record what I paid for it as I bought it pre cellar tracker. I had sat on it for a while and was stunned how good it was at age 5 in 2013. This is my last of 4 bottles and I think it is now heading down the other side of the hill. It is very rich and golden in color but still with some good acidity and real interest. There is citrus and tropical yellow fruit with some softer round edges. I am buying Lafon's Macon wines in larger amounts now and enjoying them in their youth, middle age and senescent stages. Great value white Burgundy.

  • Even more oxidised now. Very few good bottles left. Going downhill fast...

  • Starting to find more oxidised bottles when opening this. Good bottles are wonderful but at peak and not worth ageing for longer.... so safest to drink all remaining bottles within this year. Last year 1 in 10 was oxidised, this year it is 3-4 in 10.

  • I've got through 2 or 3 cases of this vintage so far, and I'm always surprised at the relative minerality and finish Lafon has managed in this Macon. It really is good, an outstanding QPR that I cannot recommend highly enough. What's more, the medium-acidic core will enable further aging (this is still improving). This is far from over-ripe, but has lots of richness and a touch of salinity with air - recommend plenty of time in the glass, which develops the palate from lemon to further tropical fruits (esp pinapple). Just lacks some extra complexity at this stage. Sweet spot should be 2020-2025.

  • Aging nicely, quite rich and mature at this stage. A fantastic buy at under $18 from @lastbottlewines. toasty, a little creamy, with fine structure and clear line of acidity. Really opened up in the glass. Lovely now and will probably hold for another 2-3 years at this level.
