  • This was a very interesting wine. Decanted 1.5 hrs ahead. Deep ruby color. Very nice nose of plums, walnuts, rosemary, roasted meat, white pepper. Well balanced on the palate, but a slightly overcooked flavor kicks in, leading me to wonder if I'm drinking Zinfandel, but no: The acid profile is far too classy for zin. Tannins are light in the relatively short finish. This wine has an excellent Syrah nose, one of the best I have had in awhile. Must be the cool climate of Santa Ynez. According to the producer's website, the grapes were harvested at 24.5 brix, which sounds perfect, but the slightly overripe flavors in this wine, probably from a cold soak and frequent punch-downs, keep me from rating it higher. Note that 88 is in the Very Good to Excellent range.

  • Can't say I was surprised. Syrah and Santa Ynez!. Like soup and sandwich. Full bodied and a bit sweet. I thought this was delicious. Plenty of life here. My 25 year old cousin is a member of their club. Gotta love it when someone so young knows what she's doing. She brought this wine to a Chanukkah dinner.
