From half bottle, this was drinking beautifully. A ripe wine with some honeysuckle, custard apple and rich orchard fruits. There’s a touch of spice and it is full, buttery and textural in the mouth. Acidity is all but folded into the wine but there is something cool and minerally below the flesh. Length of flavour is superb.

From half bottle, this was simply spectacular. It had a whiff of smoke, some custard apple and intense white peach fruit. There was some truffled honey and the palate was so expressive and expansive. It had wonderful depth and oozed minerality. The finish was so long and full of all sorts of engaging savoury and fruit tastes.

Bouchard Pere et Fils with Gilles de Larouziere (NoMad Cupola): Amazing how fresh this still is. Complex and full bodied. This kept getting better as the night progressed. Layers of nuance and complexity.
