Second virtual right bank Bordeaux tasting (blind). (Skype): Wine 4 of 5. Medium brown-ish garnet colour, orange brown towards the rim. Plum, sweet fruit, tobacco, light sous-bois, intense spice notes, and light balsamic notes, with good acidity, mostly resolved tannin and good length. Medium- to full, sweet, smooth and enjoyable, with good fruit concentration. Even more integrated and harmonious on day two. More jammy, more balsamic and lightly vegetal on day three. Loosely structured, and maybe just starting to tire, but quite enjoyable at its current stage. Drink now.

2nd auction bottle, confirming earlier note -- firm, fleshy, continuing to show iron-clay and length. Very strong showing. Winemaker Xavier and son Charles can be proud of the 82 Bourgneuf!

Auction bottle held 1 year. Firm cork. Decanted and enjoyed 2 hours without fading. Deep red, mildly translucent. Mint, ripe plum, tobacco, truffle. So lush and rich. Velvet and decadent Pomerol. On the verge but never spilling over into an over ripe sensation, it just holds to its iron clay soil terroir, with a display of ripeness and saturation that vaults it past the 85 on the nose. The finish stops just short and is not as complex as the 61, but, well, no vintage is. So happy to enjoy this bottle and have another to share.

This bottle was probably past it's prime by a hair. Silky, good balance, ripe plum, truffle and mineral notes. Would like to try this again.
