  • Last rosso from this vintage, but excited to get into the Brunelli. I expected this to maybe be a little long in the tooth at this point, and perhaps for some it would be, but I'm quite enjoying it this snowy afternoon with turkey meatballs and pasta. Transparent garnet with tawny edges. Aromas of cherry, balsamic strawberries, wet tobacco, dried leaves and spices, and a touch of floral sitting underneath. Medium body, acid, and medium to medium (+) finish, with flavors of cherry, strawberry, raspberry, balsamic, black tea, cinnamon, and orange peel. Well done.

  • Decanted but ended up initially of mixed red fruits showing age with brown tones. Medium weight, still fresh with lots of sour cherry dominating the finish. Maybe too much of it. Very little tannins to speak of. Initially would rate it an 87. However left it in the decanter for 2 hours and then drank with a sharp Aussie cheddar and later a grilled ribeye and it was wonderful. Still mid weight but opened up further with better balance between mixed fruits and the spicy finish. Excelled with the sharp cheddar. The spicy finish blended extremely well with the cheese even better than the ribeye. With food as noted would rate it a 91 but overall 90 + but with the extended decant.

  • Transparent crimson w/ moderate bricking. Very savory and meaty on the nose and palate, with additional aromas of iron, cherries, and a little rose petal, and flavors of cherries, red licorice, and herbs. Medium body and medium+ acid and finish. Old world and very nice. Restrained and delicious. Can't wait to try the brunello. Fair amount of sediment, so decant for sure. 90-91

  • Aromas and flavors of cherries, earth and spice. The palate also adds plum, currant and violets. Medium acidity, light tannins. Shows its old world origins but is not shy with the fruit. Drink now.

  • A nose of cherries and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium bodied red, with black cherry, berries, plum, some chocolate and spice on spice, an easy drinker. www.winelx.com
