  • This is a shade or two lighter in the glass than the Castellare CC. Pleasant, if somewhat diffuse, nose.

Light-bodied, with red fruits and decent persistence. I prefer this right now to the Castellare. I generally like La Gerla's Brunello normale as a decent, true-to-form Brunello available at a fair price. I have found their Rosso to be a little more hit & miss, but this is pretty good.

  • Light translucent ruby in the glass, with a floral nose featuring cherry fruit.

Light-bodied, decent acidity, a bit short on the finish, but pretty pleasurable on a Monday night with pasta.

  • I just love this producer. First 2010 I've had from Tuscany in general I believe, but being a rosso, I figured it was appropriate while the brunelli get a little happier. Unfortunately, my only bottle of this.

Well, this is drinking great right now. Definitely showing aged characteristics as opposed to fresh and vibrant, but that's right in my wheelhouse. Brickish garnet color with transparency. Aromas of dried red fruits, potpourri, black tea, licorice, herbs, lemon, and orange peel. Light to medium body in the usual house style, with medium to medium (+) acidity, medium finish, smooth/resolved tannins, and flavors of cherry, red licorice, herbs, spice, and mineral. Perfect tonight with "zootles" (zucchini noodles) with pomodoro sauce. 90-91

  • Light translucent ruby in the glass; slightly reticent red-fruited nose.

Nice framing acidity, with red fruits, on the palate. Reasonable persistence on the finish, although this wine presents as slightly dilute. Not bad, but not something I would think about aging any longer either.

  • The recent WB threads on the 2010 vintage in Tuscany/Chianti prompted me to check out a couple bottles tonight.

This wine is light translucent ruby in the glass, with a nose of tart red fruits that soars from the glass, nuanced with a little menthol as well.

Just delicious on the palate - ripe red fruits, adequate acidity, nice finish. I have enjoyed La Gerla Rosso in past vintages, but this is really good tonight, and IMO is a strong "early indicator" for the eventual potential of the 2010 Brunello bottling from this address.
