  • Very good. The Grenache softens the Syrah to make this dangerously approachable at 14.5% alc. at its peak now I’d say with primary fruit still there. Secondary’s on the nose of cigar give way to lots of sweeter dark fruit. Nice on a winters night.

  • Rather compact dark red colour. Nose with a lot of liquorice, hints of tar, blackberries and black pepper, as well as some crushed stone. Palate with good concentration of fruit, again with liquorice, blackberries and black pepper, but also some red berries, good acidity, some tannin (well embedded into the fruit), and a dark-berried aftertaste. There's just a bit of alcoholic feeling (it's 14,5%), but its rather well embedded into the fruit. Drinks well now, but could definitely develop further. 90 p.

This wine shows younger notes than expected, and at 9 years I would say it has not conformed to the back label's claim that "il atteint sa plénitude entre 3 et 8 ans". There's a bit of (well balanced) New World Shiraz character here, especially in the nose, but I'd also say that the palate is better balanced (in terms of alcohol and so on) than many a 2007 Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
