  • Red Pinot fruit with sauvage notes, fine integrated tannins, high dry extract with good length, not the most powerful GC, but it is a 2008. Drinking well now, but can go on for years.

93-94 pts

  • Another Saturday at Domaine (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): Powerful nose of oak, sulphur and red fruit. Usually Cecile's wines are nuanced and feminine, but I found this to be decidedly more masculine, powerful and raw. The fruit was really nice on the palate and after a couple of hours of air, the oak seemed to back down a bit revealing a darker core of fruit than I would have expected. There's a lot of structure to the wine too with lip-smacking acidity and drying tannins on the finish that say to me, "wait another 10 years before drinking me again." Will do.

  • I started following Cecile about 3 years ago and this is the first 08 I've sampled. Some reduction right off the bat that should resolve with some time. Super earthy nose, big juicy black and red fruits. The palate is an extension of the nose with mouth coating dark fruits, spices and soil. Incredible purity and transparency the will need a good 5+ years in bottle to really start singing. Very exciting up and coming vigneron.
