14.5% alcohol. M 65%, CF 20%, CS 10%, Malbec 5%. The cork is very long and of absolutely top quality, maybe the best that I have ever seen. No wine penetration whatsoever. Decanted an hour ahead. Dark colour with no sign of ageing. The nose is dark fruited with the balance of fresh and cooked tipping to the latter; confectionery notes and ash aromas add complexity. In the mouth, the wine is extremely smooth but far from shapeless, although it is undeniably soft centered. The fruit is fresher than on the nose, and the acidity is decent; pretty good grip in the finish. The oak is very well integrated. I used to be a fan of the wines of Fronsac and Canon Fronsac, but I have moved on and I have not had one in years. I must say that this rendition is probably the best that I ever had. A success without a doubt, and this is coming from an unreformed Cabernophile.
PS: I see that my note of 6 years ago was not as positive. Either I have become more tolerant of Merlot or the wine has genuinely improved in the mean time.

65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Malbec, average age of vines is 50 years, wine aged in French oak barrels (35% new oak), 14.5% vol.
Decanted 15 minutes before dinner and enjoyed over 2 hours. Starts a bit tart but gets better with every minute. On the nose black berries, licorice and leather, on the palate dense, good acidity, long finish with some grip.
Starts to make fun, for those that like mature Bordeaux it will only improve within the next years and will hold for another decade at least. Perhaps not the most typical Fronsac as it has only 65% Merlot, but still very classic and very reliable, for 25 sfr/€ at subscription it is a real bargain.

Quick run through a vinturi, this has aged very well and shows the characteristics of a great year in Bordeaux, with a perfect mix of fine grained tannins and bright enough acidity to make this a velvety smooth drinking experience. Light cedar and pencil lead are intermixed with dark fruit, so wish I had more of these in my cellar. Aging further won't add to the enjoyment, drink now if you have any on hand.

Fine silky tannins with dark fruit and some cedar and tobacco.

As previous, needs an hour decant.
