  • Beautiful black raspberry color. Out of the cellar, at first closed and a touch thin, perhaps not suprising considering the vintage: but with time, this becomes a powerful, muscular, complex pinot. Pungent nose reveals smoky cherry notes and a whiff of marijuana. Mouthcoating attack, with a touch of--a first for me--watermelon!--followed by a delicate black tea finish. Plenty of stuffing; if you've got some, hold for another year or two. Alcohol 14.2%. Expensive; $60 at the winery.

  • ($50) Spanish Tasting Moved from Rouge to Campisi's: Zippy acidity. Classic Pinot Noir nose shows a hint of herbal greeness. Medium-light bodied. Okay, vastly overpriced.
